Cassandra Lynn Hensley (Twitter)The Utah native -- who had gotten married, moved away from California, and had a child since her Playboy days -- was reportedly found floating in the bathtub in her friend's Los Angeles home on Wednesday. The friend performed CPR and paramedics rushed to the scene, but they were unable to revive Hensley, who was 34.
Law enforcement sources identified her by her Virginia driver's license and were quick to note that foul play is not suspected. Naturally, this prompted reports that the blond beauty died from a possible overdose.
While the autopsy has been completed, the actual results will not be available for 30-90 days, meaning speculation that the cause of death was drug-related is likely to continue. In the meantime, the assistant chief at the L.A. County Coroner told Yahoo Celebrity on Friday that Cassandra Lynn's body had been released to her husband.
According to her bio on the Playboy's website, Cassandra began modeling while studying to become an aesthetician and only tried out for Playboy after placing in the Top 20 in a Hawaiian Tropic Contest. She called being a Playmate "a dream come true," but also talked openly about life since her Playmate days.
"Yes, there is life after Playboy," she told Metropolis Nights magazine just last month. "I have been a part of many great experiences: travel shows, magazine covers, and of course giving advice to young impressionable girls who think they need to act a certain way for a chance to be a model (classy not slutty)."
As of now, no one from Playboy has responded to Yahoo's request for comment on this untimely death, though several of her fellow Playmates took to Twitter to express their sadness over this tragic news.
We'll have to wait to find out the official cause of death of this wife and mother, but, in the meantime, our thoughts are with the family she left behind.
